Craig Damian Smith is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science, University of Toronto. His research focuses on the international politics of irregular migration. He has conducted field work throughout North Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Balkans. His thesis project (due for defense mid 2016) is entitled "Schengen Effects: The Europeanization of Irregular Migration Governance and Insecurity on Europe's Peripheries."
