CfA: Visting Fellowship, Centre for Southeast European Studies, University of Graz

The Centre for Southeast European Studies of the University of Graz is currently accepting applications for Visiting Fellows for the academic year 2018-9. The Centre provides research facilities for fellows, including a working place, access to the library and full participation in the activities of the centre for a period of one semester (4 months,either October-January or March-June). Visiting Fellows will receive a small budget to organise a public event or lecture.

The University of Graz, in cooperation with the Association for the Study of Nationalities (ASN), is pleased to announce the joint conference, "Nationalism in Times of Uncertainty" which will be held from 4 to 6 July, 2018 in Graz, Austria. The conference will be organized by the Centre for Southeast European Studies of the University of Graz

New History of Yugoslavia

The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia just published a new history of Yugoslavia entitled "Yugoslavia from a Historical Perspective", based on contributions from scholars across the post-Yugoslav space. The publication is the result of a project devoted to exploring the Yugoslav past in its complexity and multi-faceted nature. In addition a website devoted to the topic offers further articles and analysis.

Einen prominenten Gastvortragenden dürften wir am Zentrum für Südosteuropastudien der Uni Graz am Mittwoch, den 21. Juni 2017 bei einer Ringvorlesung begrüßen: Kabarettist und Schauspieler Josef Hader sprach zu den Themen Hader, Politik und Balkan und schloß damit die Vortragsreihe, die sich in diesem Semester dem Schwerpunkt "Theater und Gesellschaft in Südosteuropa“ gewidmet hat.

Improving Science Communication in the Western Balkans

The Centre for Southeast European Studies (CSEES) will implement a project titled "Current Practices of Science Communication in Western Balkan Countries and their Impacts" supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation project PERFORM. Science communication is a key element of any research system. Good science communication is of benefit to the individual researcher, for the community of researchers, their institutions, policy and decision makers, and the wider public.
