Bleiburg & Beyond. Transnational Approaches Towards Memory Politics and Commemorative Practices

As a first result of the joint research project "Transnational Cultures of Bleiburg Remembrance in Austria and Croatia" granted by the WTZ Program (Science and Technology Cooperation) of the Austrian Exchange Service (ÖAD) the Centre for Southeast European Studies at the University of Graz and the Department of Cultural Studies at the University of Rijeka are organising the workshop "Bleiburg & Beyond. Transnational Approaches Towards Memory Politics and Commemorative Practices".

The political scene in the Yugoslav successor states continues to be dominated by debates about the recent past, from the tragedies of the Second World War to the wars accompanying Yugoslavia’s dissolution.

Research Project on 'Transnational Cultures of Bleiburg Remembrance in Austria and Croatia'

The Centre for Southeast European Studies won support for the research project "Transnational Cultures of Bleiburg Remembrance in Austria and Croatia" jointly with the Department of Cultural Studies at the University of Rijeka. The support is granted by the WTZ Program (Science and Technology Cooperation) of the Austrian Exchange Service (ÖAD). The project will be implemented in 2016-7.
