Karl Kaser is professor for Southeast European History at the Karl-Franzens-University of Graz/Austria, where he received his PhD in 1980, was promoted to professor 1985 and appointed to full professor 1996. His major work and research projects have been focussing on historical-anthropological fields such as history of family, kinship, and clientelism as well as gender relations in the Balkans.
